At-the-Press Training
Instructors:  John Bozzelli with Kip Doyle

February 5 – 8, Four Days
Starts 8:30 AM Tuesday 5 Feb

This Beall designed part has over 36 different processing, design and resin issues.  We will develop an optimized process in a scientific step-wise procedure that will result in a stable 24/7 production process.  Cavity pressures, temperatures and injection pressure will be monitored.

Benefits for you and your company:

Separate confusing "Machine Variables" vs. "Plastic" variables that work!
Optimize any process via scientifically established data!
Learn how to set up your machine to accommodate most viscosity changes, i.e. lot changes, colors, temperature etc.
Learn the six most important variables to monitor
Learn how to detect bad parts before hours of wasted production!
Document the process so that it can be repeated!
Learn what Infrared Thermography can do for good/bad part determinations
Glass mold videos of plastic filling various cavities; drag flow, in-mold decorating, splay, gas..  Get your processors to agree on processing strategies, minimize the tweaking and shift variations

Abstract: We have been molding for decades, however we have yet to develop a scientific method of developing an optimized process. Several data based experiments are used to develop a production process that will be documented to run a production capable process, not just sample parts.  The process is then challenged to run identical parts on different viscosity lots.  Plastic variables are defined to establish a "Universal Setup Sheet" that allows the mold to run on any appropriate press, electric or hydraulic. One setup sheet per mold saves time and assures consistency by keeping the plastic variables constant, NOT machine conditions. Troubleshooting procedures selected by class attendees will be reviewed the last day of class.

Who should attend: Anyone interested in learning injection molding or obtaining an optimized process that will run a production capable process 24/7 even on different presses.  Design, Process, Project Engineers, Processors, Quality Control, Process Technicians, Machine Suppliers, FDA agents, Plant Owners and Production Management will learn what is needed for getting the job done right, the first time.  Take the art out of molding.
